JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - UNF men's tennis (6-4) kept its winning ways at home going Sunday, defeating South Alabama, 4-1, to improve to 5-0 at home on the season while reaching four-straight victories.
The Ospreys have defeated Georgia Southern, South Carolina State, UNC Wilmington and South Alabama (9-4) during the home stand.
Sunday's win was UNF's second win in a row against a 2021 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championship participant. UNF defeated UNC Wilmington Friday as well.
How it Happened
Rodrigo Crespo and
PJ Kotan set the tone, winning 6-1 at the third doubles position. The Jaguars got one back at the first slot, but
Matt Carroll and
Nilo Duarte won their fourth-straight doubles match to clinch things at the second position.
Carroll and
Jonas Hartenstein won in straight sets, getting the Ospreys out to a 3-0 lead. South Alabama got its only point of the afternoon, winning at six singles thanks to an 8-6 win in the tiebreaker of the second session.
Coming off ASUN Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors, Crespo continued his impressive stretch by clinching the match for UNF, winning 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.
Courts two and three were left unfinished.
