Graduate Student Posts 15 Kills, 8 Digs and Career-High 7 Blocks, Ospreys Post 11 Aces
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida volleyball sent UNF (12-15, 9-6 ASUN) great Solimar Cestero off in style, defeating a stingy Stetson team, 3-1, behind a career-night for Cestero as the Ospreys won their home finale Friday, Nov. 11.
The outside hitter posted 15 kills, eight digs and a career-best seven blocks, hitting .385 in her 60th-career match at the UNF Arena. Maddie Boyd followed with her own career best, posting 13 kills on .478 hitting to go with five blocks as the Ospreys handled the Hatters with 11.5 blocks as a team.
UNF's 11 aces was the program's most since March 12, 2021 against Jacksonville, five of which came from setter Savannah Cook, the most by a UNF student-athlete since setter Julianna Askew posted five in a sweep of Mercer September of 2019.
Lost in the box score but big in the match, UNF won three challenges in the match, which proved to be pivotal.

Inside the Sets
- Set 1: The first set could have gone either way, and late it went to the Hatters as Stetson took the opening frame that went to 14 tie scores and four lead changes … Cook dropped in consecutive aces late, giving UNF a 22-19 lead, although the Hatters got within one, 24-23, before going on a 3-0 run to take the set.
- Set 2: A key successful challenge helped UNF to a 10-8 lead, reversing what would be a tie score … Stetson went on a 5-0 run to go up 16-15, but Amy Burkhardt entered and help break a Stetson run with a kill … Boyd followed with a block as the Ospreys went up, 22-16 … Stetson rattled off a 5-0 run to get within one, but another successful challenge and a Cestero kill sealed the set.
- Set 3: UNF hit .462 in the fourth, adding three assists and four blocks to take the third set … a 6-1 run in the middle of the frame all but took the stanza for UNF.
- Set 4: A match-best 17 kills, six of which fittingly came from Cestero, brought UNF to a win in the fourth frame … UNF held the Hatters to .171 hitting, getting a boost from Burkhardt's three kills.
