JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - For the second time in as many seasons, North Florida men's tennis opens the season at Florida State.

It'll be UNF's second trip to Tallahassee in the 2021-22 year after competing in the Bedford Cup back in October. Jonas Hartenstein and Rodrigo Crespo reached the top doubles flight final on that trip.

UNF and FSU first met in 1986. All but one meeting was in Tallahassee.

Scouting Report
Florida State is also opening its spring season with the Jan. 14 match … the Seminoles went 10-16 last season, going 2-10 in ACC play … Florida State was 8-9 at home and 0-7 on the road … the Seminoles did make a run to the ACC Championship Semifinals after defeating Boston College and No. 34 Notre Dame … FSU ultimately fell to No. 25 NC State.

Fall Back
UNF's fall was extremely successful. Senior Dominik Barton made the longest run in the ITA Southeast Regionals in at least UNF's Division I-era.

Barton reached the ITA Southeast Region Semifinals after earning wins against opponents from Georgia, Georgia Tech, Miami and UCF.

Another highlight of the fall was Hartenstein and Crespo's run to the Bedford Cup Flight A East Doubles title match. The duo was just a tiebreaker shy of winning the tournament in Tallahassee.
