JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida volleyball plays in its home-opening weekend when it hosts Virginia Tech, Georgia State and Davidson in the UNF Invitational Presented by Sheraton - Jacksonville Friday through Sunday from the UNF Arena.
North Florida plays three matches, while the weekend will feature six total matches with an additional three neutral site matches on deck.

BOCA RATON, Fla. - North Florida volleyball (3-0) got a little bit from everyone while hitting .311 as a team in a 3-0 sweep of Stony Brook (0-3) Saturday, Aug. 28, completing a perfect weekend at FAU.
The Ospreys are FAU Tournament champions for the second time in three trips down to Boca Raton. UNF visited in 2018 and won the tournament in 2016.

UNF is playing an ACC school at home for the third consecutive season when it hosts Virginia Tech Friday, Sept. 3 ... the Ospreys and Hokies meet for the first time ... UNF is 1-2 against Georgia State and 1-0 against Davidson in series history.

UNF is 34th in the nation and 1st in the ASUN in total blocks ...
Bre Walp led the way on that train, posting 19 blocks over a 3-0 weekend, earning ASUN Defensive Player of the Week honors ... Walp is the first Osprey middle blocker to earn that award since Morgan Van Alstine did so in 2016 ...
Maddie Boyd joined Walp on the FAU All-Tournament Team with 11 blocks, while
Anna Butler added 10 blocks in her first weekend of collegiate volleyball.

Virginia Tech: Virginia Tech is 3-0 after earning wins against Lehigh, Elon and Toledo in their season-opening tournament … the Hokies feature 10 newcomers … Va Tech defeated No. 14 Duke in five frames a year ago … Virginia Tech went 6-11 a year ago … it's head coach Marci Byers' second season in Blacksburg after an impressive tenure at Radford.
Georgia State: Georgia State went 1-2 to open the year, picking up its lone win against California Baptist ... the Panthers dropped matches against Memphis and Chattanooga … Meisheia Griffin was named to the all-tournament team after hitting .347 … head coach Sally Polhaums is 64-125 during her time at GSU.
Davidson: Davidson went 2-0 last weekend, earning wins against UNC Asheville and Western Carolina ... its match against NC Central was cancelled … outside Hattie Rodriguez was named A-10 Player of the Week and libero Bella Brady was named A-10 Defensive Player of the Week in the first weekly awards handed out during 2021 … Davidson brings in three newcomers and was picked sixth in the A-10 Preseason Poll.
