Joe Ellis and
Rodrigo Crespo both earned their second singles victory in a row, but visiting North Florida men's tennis (2-6) dropped its match at UNCW (5-2) Tuesday, March 9. A total of four singles slots went to three sets, with UNF taking two in a three-hour and 30-minute match.
PJ Kotan and
Federico Nani evened the doubles point with a win at the third slot. The 1-0 advantage depended on court one, although top pair
Dominik Barton and
Matt Carroll were edged 7-6 (7-3) in a tiebreaker.
UNCW won at one and two singles before UNF got on the board thanks to Crespo's 5-7, 7-5, 6-1 win at four singles.
Courts three and five proved pivotal.
Matt Carroll and
Jonas Hartenstein had shots at points, although both were edged in three sets. Hartenstein's match was decided 7-6 (7-5) in set three.
Ellis came back from a 4-6 set one loss with back-to-back 6-4 wins to claim the sixth slot after the match was clinched.
