Ospreys Rally to Win at Stetson Sunday

DELAND, Fla. - Stetson struck first in the rubber game, but North Florida softball came back to take the game 2-1 Sunday at Patricia Wilson Field.

Pitchers of Record

Win | Halle Arends (8-4)
Loss | Chloe Temples (3-8)

How it Happened

  • Stetson (5-14,1-8 ASUN) struck first in the opening frame with a one-out RBI single to lead.
  • The Ospreys (12-16, 4-5 ASUN) answered back to tie the game in the third. Kayla Harper led off the inning with a single before heading to third on the Hatters' error. She then scored on a double steal attempt for the 1-1 game.
  • Neither team saw much action as each only tallied one hit in each of the next three innings.
  • With a lead off double from Paige Pfent in the seventh, UNF saw its chance. After being replaced on the base path by Cathy Vega, Harper moved her to third on a bunt. Regan Hermeling then stepped to the plate to send a fly ball to right field and allow Vega to tag up on the sac fly for the 2-1 lead.
  • In the Hatters side of the inning, Halle Arends sat the batters in order to secure the win. She finished the complete game, giving up four hits and four walks, while striking out three.

How it Happened

  • Kayla McGory was 3-for-4 on the day with two stolen bases.
  • Harper also tallied a multi-hit day and picked up a stolen base.
