JACKSONVILLE - North Florida men's soccer is set to rematch with Stetson Saturday evening in DeLand, Fla.
WHAT TO KNOW
- North Florida (3-2-2, 1-1-2 ASUN) picked up its first conference win against Jacksonville in dominating fashion with a 3-0 victory. Three different Ospreys scored including Spencer Groves who netted his first career goal in his first game.
- Mirza Nevoric also scored a goal and is tied with Jovoney Brown in total shots with 12 each. Robbie Soronellas tops the squad with seven attempts on target.
- In the net, Padraic Gilley returned and posted his third shut out of the season and has not allowed a goal this year. He is 2-0-1 on the year.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Stetson is still looking for its first win of the season as the Hatters are 0-3-2 on the year and 0-2-2 in ASUN play. The Hatters and FGCU tied Saturday, 0-0. Stetson has only scored one goal this season. Christian Vinasco leads the team with the goal and six shots including two on target. Oliver Bryneus also has two on frame.
SERIES HISTORY
Stetson has the edge over UNF, leading the series 11-5-1. The tie earlier this season was the first in the series history. The Hatters struck first in the 58th minute before
Robbie Soronellas scored the equalizer in the 68th minute. North Florida owned an 18-13 edge in shots including 6-2 on target.
