Ospreys and Hatters Meet for the Fifth Time This Season

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A chance to advance to the ASUN Volleyball Championship Semifinals is on the line Saturday as UNF volleyball hosts Stetson in the quarterfinals.

First serve is set for 7 p.m. from the UNF Arena. North Florida comes in as the second seed in the ASUN South Division, while Stetson touts the third seed.

1. Last Time Out
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Five different Ospreys tallied double-digit dig nights and a pair of statistical milestones were eclipsed as UNF volleyball (9-9, 8-4 ASUN) finished the regular season with a 3-1 win against Stetson (6-7, 5-7 ASUN) Saturday, March 20.

2. Series History
This is the fifth meeting between Stetson and UNF this season … UNF is 2-2 against the Hatters this season, splitting both ends of the home-and-home two-game sets this year … the Ospreys own a 23-12 upperhand in the series history … the first-ever meeting was in 1992 … North Florida's wins against Stetson this season have both come in five-set affairs … Stetson has won 3-0 and 3-1 in its wins.

3. In the ASUN Championship
This is the first-ever meeting between UNF and Stetson in the ASUN Championship … the Ospreys are looking for their first win in the ASUN Championship since a sweep of Jacksonville in the 2012 ASUN Championship Quarterfinals … that season UNF went on to reach the finals after downing FGCU, 3-1, in the semifinals … North Florida is making its seventh consecutive trip to the ASUN Championship … last year the Ospreys fell 3-1 to Liberty in the quarterfinals … UNF is hosting an ASUN Postseason match for the first time in program history.

4. Run Up the Numbers
  • UNF is 8-4 in conference play this season, its best ASUN winning percentage since joining league play.
  • It's UNF's first winning season in ASUN play since 2016.
  • Gabby O'Connell became just the second Osprey in UNF DI history to join the 1,000-kill and 1,000-dig club.
  • Rocio Moro eclipsed 1,000-career digs, becoming just the seventh in UNF DI history to do so.
  • Julianna Askew finished the regular season with 1,985-career assists, good for fourth in UNF DI history.
  • Moro is first in the league and 23rd in the country in digs/set.
  • Julianna Askew is first in the conference and 19th in NCAA DI for total assists.
  • Bre Walp has 56 blocks and Maddie Boyd has 55, good for second and third in the league respectively.
  • UNF and Stetson have averaged a 2-hour and 18-minute time of game over the four meetings this season.

5. Scouting Report
  • Stetson is 6-7 and 5-7 in league play this year.
  • The Hatters are the third seed in the ASUN South Division.
  • Stetson fell 3-1 in the opening round of the ASUN Championship last year.
  • Elena Djokovic paces SU with 4.03 kills/set. She only appeared in one of the two contests between UNF and Stetson last weekend.
  • Naina Ivanova, Stetson's setter, posted a 42-assist and 20-dig double-double in the match between UNF and Stetson Saturday. 
  • Libero Chelcie Spence is second in the league in digs/set (5.16) and 34th in the country.
