JACKSONVILLE - North Florida men's soccer travels south to Fort Myers to face FGCU at 1 p.m. This matchup marks the teams' second in just three weeks.
WHAT TO KNOW
- UNF is coming off two consecutive double-overtime draws against ASUN foes FGCU and Stetson.
- Last weekend, the Ospreys fell behind early in the second half, but sophomore Robbie Soronellas netted the game-tying goal off an unassisted shot inside the right crossbar.
- The Ospreys outshot the Hatters 18-13, dominating 6-2 on shots on goal. Junior Bryson Smith led the teams with four shots, one on target.
- Freshman goalie Holden Giesecke got his first start of the season. The keeper faced 13 shots and picked up one save.
- UNF currently ranks first in the ASUN in several categories including shots (35), shots/game (17.5) and corner kicks (23).
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
FGCU men's soccer is coming off its first win of the season against Jacksonville, 3-1, despite being outshot by the Dolphins 11-8 and 7-5 on shots on goal. Junior O'Vonte Mullings led the team with five shots, scoring on two of his three shots. Freshman Darius Kerr-Cooper was responsible for the team's third goal.
SERIES HISTORY
FGCU has the edge over UNF, leading the series 11-2-4. In the match at Patton Park, the Ospreys outshot the Eagles 17-5 and had a commanding edge in corner kicks, 10-2. Last season, the Eagles knocked the Ospreys out of the ASUN Conference Tournament after winning in the semifinals, 2-1.
