Volleyball Tripped Up at Stetson

O’Connell Notches Career Double-Double Number 35 in Loss

DeLAND, Fla. - UNF volleyball's three-match winning streak was snapped Friday night at Stetson in a 3-0 loss to the Hatters (2-3, 1-3 ASUN). 

The Ospreys (5-7, 4-2 ASUN) are 4-2 in ASUN play as they finish up the first half of conference competition.

Gabby O'Connell notched her 35th double-double at UNF with 11 kills and 10 digs, while Solimar Cestero paced the Ospreys with 12 kills.

Inside the Sets
  • Set 1: Stetson hit .263 to .054 for UNF, overriding the Ospreys' three aces … Stetson's Elena Djokovic had four kills and Cestero paced UNF with three.
  • Set 2: Six times the score was tied and twice the lead changed, with the last time it changing eventually resulting in Stetson's match point ... UNF used a 6-0 run to take a 15-12 lead into the media timeout ... Stetson put up 14 kills to UNF's nine, tying it at 23 ... the Ospreys got the edge and four set points, but the Hatters rebounded to take the marathon set.
  • Set 3: Session three saw eight tie scores and two lead changes ... Stetson won the kills battle, 20-16, finding the edge late.
