JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida men's soccer (2-5-1) returns home from their two-game road stint to play in another ASUN conference matchup against Lipscomb (6-2-2) on Saturday evening at Hodges Stadium.
WHAT TO KNOW
- Freshman Joaquin Acuna scored his first goal since his two-goal performance against Mercer to add on to his team-high four goals on the season.
- The Ospreys rank fourth in the ASUN for assists with one per game and Acuna ranks third in the conference for game-winning goals with three.
- UNF looks to break their four-game losing streak where all four games have been one-goal losses.
- Both goalkeepers, seniors Padraic Gilley and Carlos Melendez, have started and played in four games, with each of them having nine saves on the season.
- Junior Bendeguz Burka remains the leader in time played for UNF with 751 minutes, as he has logged 85 or more minutes in each of their eight games played.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Lipscomb is 6-2-2 on the season with a 2-1-0 conference record in the ASUN, but have lost two of their past three games against Butler and Stetson. The only similar opponent that they've played is Bellarmine, who they beat earlier this season and UNF lost to in double overtime this past week.
Tyrese Spicer and Hayes Wood are the players to look out for when facing the Bison, as they have combined for nine goals and four assists this season. Lipscomb has 11 different players that have scored goals this season and six that have scored two or more.
The Bison currently lead the ASUN in multiple team categories, such as goals per game, shots per game, shots on goal per game, and assists per game. Spicer also leads all ASUN players in points per game and Bakary Bagayoko leads the conference in shot accuracy and shots on goal per game.
SERIES HISTORY
- The overall series between North Florida and Lipscomb is tied up at 8-8-1, including 3-3 in the past six matchups.
- The Ospreys are 4-4 all-time against the Bison at home and 2-1 against them in their last three home games.
