GAINESVILLE, Fla. - North Florida men's tennis put up a strong showing on its first day at the ITA Southeast Regionals, combining to win nine total matches between singles and doubles play in the qualifying rounds Thursday, Oct. 21.

PJ Kotan's day headlined the winning as the lefty swept his four matches, winning two in singles play and two in doubles respectively. Matt Carroll joined him in the doubles wins as the duo defeated pairs from Florida State and FGCU.

Nilo Duarte accompanied Kotan in advancing to the main draw as the senior took care of business against Georgia Tech's Angel Guerrero and FAU's Nicolas Jadoun in the round of 32.

Jonas Hartenstein went 2-0 in singles as well. He began the day with a 10-4 tiebreak win in set three against Stetson's Tim Gennes prior to a straight sets defeat of FAU's Hunter Robbins. 

Freshman Breno Marques also played a strong opening match, downing UCF's Quinn Snyder, 6-3, 6-2.
