GAINESVILLE, Fla. - No. 8/11 Florida used a big first inning to take a lead it never relinquished and went on to defeat North Florida, 10-2, in five innings Wednesday.

How it Happened:
- In the first inning the Gators got on the board thanks to a hit and a walk followed by a homer from Jordan Roberts for a 3-0 lead.
- Following a pitching change, Florida added on four more before a final pop out ended the inning.
- In the second, UF pushed its lead to 8-0 on an RBI walk.
- Thanks to Kayla McGory's double in the third, North Florida closed the gap to 8-2. Back-to-back singles put two on before a sac bunt moved the into scoring position. McGory sent her first double of the season to left field to bring in the two runs.
- The home team extended their lead with a run in the third and fourth to make it a run rule game.
Notes:
- UNF recorded six hits against the Florida for its highest total against the Gators in 10 meetings. It was also the first time UNF put up two runs against the Gators.
- Elaina Lukas got her first career start. She recorded two sac bunts.
- Florida left 11 on base, while UNF stranded four.
