JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's tennis (3-0) made it a perfect home stand after downing Cornell (0-3), 6-1, in the team's first-ever meeting from a windy UNF Tennis Complex Monday, Jan. 20.

UNF clinched the doubles matches, led first by Constanza Gorches and Kendall Nash, sweeping Megan Polnet and Ashley Huang. Ana Paula Melilo and Lucia Montano edged Valerie Ho and Maria Adiaconitei, 7-5, to take the opening point.  

The Ospreys claimed the first two singles points with wins from Montano and Melilo, stretching their lead to 3-0. Michelle Deng secured Cornell's first point of the match after defeating Summer Yardley, 6-1, 6-3, at the five slot. Constanza Gorches secured UNF's win with a straight sets victory against Katherine Nguyen.

Valentina Mariotto rebounded from a one-set deficit to notch consecutive 6-1 wins and secure UNF's final point.

UNF hits the road for four straight matches before returning home to host Florida Atlantic Feb. 21.
