Kennesaw State Claims Two from Softball

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Kennesaw State used timely hits and capitalizing on North Florida miscues as softball fell to the Owls in a pair of 3-1 games on Saturday afternoon in ASUN play.

GAME 1
Pitchers of Record:

Win | Hailey Andrews (13-10) | 7 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 9 K
Loss | Sydney Matzko (9-7) | 7 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 4 BB, 1 K

How it Happened:
  • Kennesaw State (22-18, 7-4 ASUN) scored its run in the third on an RBI ground out to take the lead, but it was short lived as the Ospreys (20-14, 3-5 ASUN) answered back in the bottom fourth.
  • Senior Navia Penrod singled through the right side and stole second to be in scoring position for Veronika Klimplova. She then sent a hit through the right side and Penrod came around to beat the throw home and score the run.
  • The Owls took the lead for good in the top of the sixth as a pair of errors and a double allowed two runs to come in.
  • North Florida tried to come back in the final frame, but Andrews got the force outs she needed to get the win.
