JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida softball attempted to rally in both games against FGCU today, but fell short, 4-3, and 6-3, on Saturday at the UNF Softball Complex.
Originally a three-game series, it was shortened to two games after rain made the field unplayable on Friday.
GAME 1

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles (26-16, 11-3 ASUN) plated two runs in the fourth on one hit and two errors before UNF (22-19, 4-10 ASUN) answered back with a run of its own.
- Tiffany Lower led off with a single, stole second and moved over on a fly out. The Ospreys then successfully pulled a double steal from first and third to make it a 2-1 game.
- Kate Kelly hit a two-RBI double in the sixth to give FGCU a 4-1 lead.
- The Ospreys tried to make a comeback in their side of the inning, but were only able to scratch across two runs.
- Lower singled before a walk put two on. Dominica Cocuzza then tripled to plate the two.
- It was short lived though as Randolph got the final three batters of the game to end any more threat.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A UNF miscue in the first allowed the Eagles first run of the game to score.
- FGCU then had a three-run six-hit fourth inning to take a 4-0 advantage before scoring a pair of runs on Taylor Bauman's double for a 6-0 lead in the seventh.
- North Florida tried to make a comeback as FGCU committed back-to-back errors to allow to on to open the inning. A walk loaded the bases before another walk brought in the first UNF run of the game.
- With the bases still loaded, Navia Penrod stepped to the plate and hit a two-RBI double to right field.
- Cocuzza looked to tie the game with a long fly ball, but it was caught by the left fielder to end the threat and the game.
LOOKING AHEAD
North Florida takes the week off for finals and graduation before hosting Jacksonville to wrap up their home ASUN series. The River City Rumble begins on Sunday, April 28 at 1 p.m. for a doubleheader before concluding on Monday at 1 p.m.
