JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - UNF men's tennis (11-10, 4-2 ASUN) cruised past Lipscomb, 6-1, clinching a spot in the ASUN Championship after improving to 4-2 in league play Thursday, April 11.
At 4-2, UNF will finish no worse than a four seed in the championship. UNF guarantees a third seed with a win or a Kennesaw State loss. KSU faces FGCU Saturday, April 13, at 5 p.m.
Federico Nani and
Jorge Nunez got the first doubles victory, 6-1, and
Charley Castaing and
Till Von Winning gelled in their first match as a pair, clinching the point at the three spot.
Adjustments in the singles lineup didn't phase UNF as it won five matches in straight sets. The Bisons (7-12, 2-4 ASUN) salvaged one point when Victor Chaw earned a 6-1, 6-4, triumph. Behind wins from Duarte and Nunez, Castaing eventually earned the clincher at the sixth slot, picking up his first singles dual win of the year.
Notes
- North Florida improves to 7-1 at home.
- The Ospreys are 14-0 against the Bisons in series history.
