Ospreys Blank Georgia Southern

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida softball downed Georgia Southern, 4-0, in a midweek game at the UNF Softball Field.

Pitchers of Record:

How it Happened:
  • With the game in a stalemate through the top of the third, Dominica Cocuzza reached on a lead off hit-by-pitch before moving over on two ground outs. A walk put runners on the corner for Paige Pfent who sent a single to shallow right center to bring in the first run.
  • Makenzie Griffin then singled up the middle for the second run of the inning to give the Ospreys the 2-0 advantage.
  • UNF added to its lead with home runs from Cocuzza in the fifth and another from Veronika Klimplova in the sixth. It was Cocuzza's third of the year and Klimplova's first.
  • After two batters reached base in the first, senior Sydney Matzko was able to get the next eight straight en route to her second shutout of the season.
