Clausen Goes the Distance in Loss to No. 24 Ohio State, 3-0

ORLANDO, Fla. - Freshman Morgan Clausen went the distance in her first-career start for the Ospreys, although No. 24 Ohio State (3-0) got enough run support as North Florida (0-2) dropped a 3-0 decision to the Buckeyes Saturday, Feb. 9.

No. 24 Ohio State | Kat Duvall (1-0)
UNF | Morgan Clausen (0-1)

Line Scores:

Behind the Line Score
  • Ohio State drew first blood on Ashley Prange's leadoff solo home run to left field to start the top of the second inning.
  • The leadoff batter cost UNF again in the third when Ashley Farrah doubled to left, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored via a single from designated hitter Kallie Boren.
  • Clausen retired six of the next seven until OSU tacked on one more run in the top of the fifth courtesy of a two-out rally. Second baseman Emily Clark rolled one through the left side, Boren was hit by a pitch and Prange brought Clark around with an RBI single back up the box.
  • The rest of the game saw only three baserunners as Ohio State picked up its third win in as many games to open the season.

Notes
  • Duvall fanned a career-high 10, allowing only six baserunners.
  • Both pitchers were getting outs in the air. Duvall retired eight on fly outs, while Clausen set down 11.
