Behind the Line Score
- The Tigers scored an unearned run for a 1-0 lead after one inning. Leadoff batter Alex Peterson reached on a muffed throw, took second on a wild pitch and later scored on a Tony Ortiz single to center.
- Peterson was in on the scoring again, doubling into the left field corner to leadoff the third inning. He would score on an Ortiz RBI-groundout.
- Starters Max McKinley and Jacob Cantleberry settled into a groove, as both hurlers recorded two-consecutive three-up-three down innings.
- Mizzou went to the bullpen in the seventh, and that's when the trouble started for the Tigers. Senior Jay Prather walked in front of singles from Blake Marabell, Alex Reynolds and Tanner May.
- Wes Weeks rolled an RBI single through the left side of the infield, scoring Marabell to tie the game. After another pitching change, left-handed hitter Chris Berry capped the comeback off with a two-RBI single pulled through the hole.
- Hunter Bowling and Logan Clayton both made their UNF debuts in the eighth, working around an error to set down the Tigers.
- Missouri knocked on the door in ninth though. Trace Norkus came in eyeing his second save of the weekend, but two singles and a walk pushed him from the game with two outs and the bags loaded.
- The game turned to lefty Eddie Miller and Kameron Misner, who had homered twice on Saturday. Miller got behind 0-2 before working the count back to 2-2. Misner gave Miller's 2-2 delivery a ride but Murphy got underneath it to retire the Tigers.
Coach's Comments
"It was a great weekend. You know, we talked yesterday about going into the weekend and winning the weekend and we did it in a come-from-behind fashion. We were a little sluggish early, but their pitcher was very, very good. Our guys battled and we hung together, and our pitching did a great job." - head coach
Tim Parenton
