No. 14 Indiana Tops Ospreys

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - No. 14 Indiana had a second half surge that North Florida women's basketball could not contain as the Hoosiers won, 72-45, Saturday at Assembly Hall.

Brenna Wise hit a three-pointer late in the third quarter to make it 45-30 and the Hoosiers (8-1) ballooned their lead from there.

Green hit a layup to bring the Ospreys (5-5) to within six points in the third quarter - the closest it got for the remainder of the game.

INSIDE THE GAME
  • After Bond hit a triple to start the game, IU went on a 17-0 stretch over the next next nine minutes. Moore ended the skid with a long ball to make it 17-6 in the first quarter.
  • Indiana hit a pair of free throws to open the quarter before UNF went on a 9-2 run to close the gap to 21-15 with 6:10 on the clock.
  • The Hoosiers then pushed their lead to 27-15, but Green hit back-to-back baskets to close the gap back to 28-19 at half time.
  • Entering the third, North Florida cut the lead to six, but the hosts jumped on an 11-1 tear to lead 41-25. Indiana held the Ospreys to just one basket over the final five minutes of the frame to lead 47-30 after three.
  • Indiana used successful trips to the line to balloon its lead to 30. A pair of triples from Moore and Green were the lone field goals for the Ospreys for the final three minutes of the game.

  • Green led the team in scoring for the fifth time and posted double figures for the seventh time. 
  • Moore scored six of her points in the final three minutes of the game.
  • Victoria Patrick came back from injury to score six points with two three-pointers in the first half. 
  • UNF was held to its lowest offensive output of the season.
  • Indiana was the second ranked team the Ospreys have faced (Miami).
  • The Ospreys held Indiana to its lowest first half and second quarter scores.
  • The 26 trips to the line were the most allowed by UNF this season.

What's Next

North Florida takes 11 days off - its biggest break of the season - as the players take final exams. The Ospreys return to action for their final road game of 2019 at Florida State Wednesday, Dec. 18.
