Bond, Jackson Score in Double Figures at No. 8 Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - A slow first half coupled with Florida State's domination off the glass stymied North Florida women's basketball as it dropped a 70-41 decision to the No. 8 Seminoles Wednesday at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center.

An 11-0 run in the second frame put the Seminoles (11-0) up, 31-8 to give them the momentum heading into the halftime break.

SWOOP of the Game
North Florida (5-6) went on a 7-0 run to close out the third quarter and give the Ospreys 22 points in the frame - its highest third quarter output against a Division I team this season.

INSIDE THE GAME
  • North Florida did not hit a field goal in the opening quarter as the Seminoles owned a 13-4 edge after one. The Ospreys held Florida State to its lowest first-quarter output of the season.
  • FSU eventually ran out to a 29-8 lead at the media timeout. Jazz Bond closed the gap with the first three-pointer for UNF to make it 31-11. 
  • The Ospreys held the hosts to just 1-for-7 from the floor down the stretch and Victoria Patrick hit a three-pointer as time expired to make it 33-11.
  • North Florida's offensive flow came in the third quarter as it chipped in 22 points, aided by nine from Bond and five from Jackson.
  • In the final frame, FSU outscored UNF 15-5 to close out the chance to slim the lead.

  • Bond led the team in scoring for the third time this season, while pacing the Ospreys in rebounds for the sixth time. 
  • Jackson eclipsed 700 career points with her 11 tonight and now has 460 rebounds. 
  • No. 8 Florida State is the highest ranked team UNF has faced this season. 
  • It was the second time this season the Ospreys allowed 50 or more rebounds and its opponent's biggest advantage. FSU owned a 55-24 edge off the glass and a 32-5 advantage in second chance points.
  • River Baldwin led the Seminoles with 19 points, eight rebounds and three assists, while two others reached double digits. 

What's Next

North Florida heads back to Jacksonville to close out non-conference play beginning with Holy Cross December 28 and ending 2019 against in-town foe Edward Waters December 31.
