Volleyball Celebrates Senior Night, Downs Jacksonville

Griffey Ties a Career High With 19 Kills

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -  It was a packed night Friday night from the UNF Arena as the Ospreys (14-15, 6-7) saw senior Taryn Griffey tie a career high in kills on her senior night as North Florida picked up another Barrel Point with a 3-1 victory against Jacksonville (9-19, 5-9 ASUN) Nov. 8.

Griffey was honored for her standout career prior to the match, and in between sets two and three UNF volleyball great Paige Pridgeon was recognized as being a 2020 inductee into the North Florida Hall of Fame.

Not to be lost was sophomore Solimar Cestero's 24 kills, giving her 54 over her past two matches and four matches of at least 20 kills this season.

UNF 3, JU 1 (25-16, 20-25, 25-8, 25-22)

  • Set 2: The Dolphins lone set win came in the second courtesy of .520 hitting … North Florida didn't fair poorly, hitting .278 although JU only permitted UNF to a 1-0 lead before taking over the rest of the way.

Wright's Words
"I thought it was a good match and Jacksonville did some nice things," head coach Kristen Wright said. "They had a new lineup and some changes and we had to focus on our side of the court. I think we did a nice job of handling those changes in the first and did a good job figuring out how to score, and obviously Solimar was hot off the start and Taryn was in drive the whole match."
