The Facts: Volleyball Clashes With No. 3 Liberty in ASUN Quarterfinals

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - It's a new season Thursday as No. 6 North Florida faces No. 3 Liberty in the ASUN Volleyball Championship Quarterfinals from Alico Arena Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m.

1. Last Time Out
FLORENCE, Ala. - Despite a 2-1 deficit and two match points in the hands of UNA, the Ospreys (15-17, 7-9 ASUN) roared back to take down the North Alabama Lions (4-25, 2-14 ASUN), 3-2, in the regular season finale Sunday, Nov. 17.

Taryn Griffey became the first UNF Division I player to notch 1,000 kills and 300 blocks while three season highs were tallied around the Ospreys' lineup.

2. Series History
The Flames lead the all-time series, 5-0 ... It's the second time in series history that the two teams will be meeting at a neutral site ... The Flames took the two meetings this season, 3-1 and 3-0 ... The first encounter was in 2010, a neutral site contest in Charlottesville, Va. ... It's the first time either team has met in ASUN Championship play.

3. In The Tournament
This is UNF's sixth consecutive trip to the ASUN Championship and ninth overall ... The Ospreys were the six seed a year ago, falling to No. 3 Lipscomb in the quarterfinals Nov. 15.

4. Record Book Edits
Senior middle blocker Taryn Griffey made Osprey volleyball history Sunday, Nov. 10 against Liberty ... The Wildwood, Mo., native notched her 49th solo block at UNF, passing Morgan Van Alstine for the most solo blocks in UNF DI history ... She also eclipsed 300 blocks for her career against the Flames ... Griffey became the first UNF DI player to have 1,000 kills and 300 blocks for her career after notching 14 Sunday, Nov. 17 ... Freshman Rocio Moro posted 38 digs Friday against Lipscomb, tied for the second most in UNF's history for four-set matches, and the most in over 13 years ... Moro became the third player in UNF history to have 600 digs in a season ... Her 4.98 digs/set is second in program history ... Solimar Cestero became just the sixth player in UNF's DI days to cross the 600-kill plateau for a season with 21 against UNA Sunday … Some huge numbers have come from UNF's lineup this year, with North Florida players standing atop the assists, kills and digs charts in the ASUN ... Julianna Askew has the most assists (1,265), Rocio Moro the most digs (608) and Solimar Cestero the most kills (410).

5. Scouting Report
Liberty enters as the three seed in the ASUN Championship ... The Flames were the four seed in last year's tournament, downing No. 5 Stetson before falling to top-seeded FGCU in the semifinals, 3-0 ... It's Liberty's second appearance in the ASUN Championship after joining the league prior to the 2018 campaign ... Liberty is one of two teams in the league posting more than two blocks/set ... The Flames notch 2.55 blocks/set, paced by Anna Gragg's 1.09 per session.
