TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The North Florida women's tennis team picked up three singles wins on the first day of the ITA Regionals.

Headlining the Osprey's wins were Constanza Gorches and Lucia Montano. Gorches defeated nationally ranked, ninth seed Meg Kowalski of Georgia 6-2, 7-6(2) in the Round of 64. Montano swept her opponent from Georgia in a 6-3, 6-2 victory. Both Gorches and Montano suffered losses in the Round of 32.

Ana Paula Melilo lost in the Round of 64 to Sydney Berlin of Florida. She advances to the Round of 16 of the consolation bracket after picking up a win against an opponent from Georgia State in the Round of 32.

Both pairs struggled in the opening round of doubles. Melilo and Montano lost their match to a pair from Stetson, 8-5, while Gorches and Valentina Mariotto lost to a pair from FIU, 8-3. 

Due to inclement weather, the tournament will start at 2 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.
