JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - For the second time in as many matches UNF (9-12) churned out a balanced attack to outlast its opponents in five. This time the Ospreys fended off visiting FAMU (6-15) behind another
Solimar Cestero double-double and efficient hitting from their middles Tuesday, Oct. 15.
Cestero's third consecutive double-double was backed up by .429 hitting and double-digit kill performances from both
Emma Dixon and
Taryn Griffey. Freshman
Maddie Norris contributed career highs in both digs and kills, tallying nine of each.
2. New Faces
Some new faces made big contributions in UNF's back-to-back five-set wins against Jacksonville and FAMU Sunday and Tuesday … Sunday,
Bria Plante contributed five kills and four blocks while
Grace Youngblood and
Angelie Rosario played in a season-high five sets … Tuesday, freshman
Maddie Norris came up big with nine kills, nine digs and two aces … Youngblood posted a career-best 12 digs.
3. More Awards for Moro
Freshman
Rocio Moro picked up her third conference weekly award of the season Monday after being tabbed ASUN Defensive Player of the Week following back-to-back matches of 29 digs … She was named ASUN Freshman of the Week Sept. 3 and Sept. 23 … She picked up two all-tournament honors this season … Eight times she's tallied at least 20 digs, and once she posted 35 against Mississippi State Sept. 19, tying the UNF DI five-set match record … Moro leads the league in digs at 384 and is second in the league with 4.86 digs/set.
