Season-Worst Shooting Dooms Ospreys on the Road

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Despite facing a three-point deficit at halftime, the North Florida women's basketball team shot 25 percent from the floor in the second half, leading to a 69-53 loss at Liberty at Vines Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Ospreys fall to 7-9 (2-3 ASUN) while the Flames improve to 6-12 (2-3 ASUN) on the season.

Inside the First Half
UNF opened the game with a 11-3 advantage when Bond, Dasha Eremeeva and Janesha Green buried three-pointers and Bond added a layup. Liberty responded with a 9-0 rally to take the lead at 12-11 before the Ospreys took a 16-15 lead into the second quarter.
 
Defense dominated in the second quarter while the teams traded baskets in the low-scoring quarter. The Flames took a five-point lead before Arianna Emanuel-Wright's layup at the buzzer narrowed the deficit to 28-25 at halftime.
 
Inside the Second Half
Liberty extended its lead to eight with a 7-2 scoring spurt to the open the half. Lauren Gross and Elli Bartley connected on treys from beyond the arc to cut the deficit to four points. Liberty scored the final six points of the quarter to take a 10-point lead into the final quarter.
 
After shooting 23.5 percent from the field in the third quarter, UNF's shooting woes carried into the fourth quarter as the Ospreys shot 26.7 percent from the floor in the final quarter. Liberty capitalized by extending its lead to as many as 18 points before clinching the 16-point victory on Saturday.

  • The Flames shot 40 percent from the floor while holding the Ospreys to a season-low shooting percentage of 26.9 percent.
  • Liberty outrebounded UNF 56-36 and posted a dominant 28-10 advantage in points in the paint.
  • Ty Purifoy continues to find success passing the ball, surpassing double-figures in assists for the first time in her career with 10 assists.
  • Bond posted the second consecutive double-double of her career with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Green netted 10 points, one point of tying her season-high.
