JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Â - Redshirt-sophomore Gabby O'Connell led all players in kills and senior Madilyn McCarty posted her seventh double-double of 2018, although a consistent USF attack provided the Bulls with a 3-0 win at the UNF Arena Sunday, September 23.

Behind the Box Score
- UNF (5-13) had two more kills than USF (11-3) in the opening set, but four service errors hurt the Ospreys as the Bulls slowly created separation late in the opener. O'Connell had her second-straight match with at least five kills in the first set.
- USF hit a match-high .389 in the second set en route to a 2-0 lead.
- North Florida kept stride to start the third set, getting a boost from back-to-back kills courtesy of freshman Grace Peterson, tying things at 11. A 5-1 run gave the Bulls a window to take the final set though. 11 different UNF players saw action in the third set alone.
Leaders by the Numbers
- O'Connell | 12 kills
- McCarty | 27 assists, 11 digs, seven kills
- Callie Workman | 13 digs
- Taryn Griffey | Seven kills, two blocks
Notes
- Sunday was the fifth-ever meeting between USF and UNF, and the first match in Jacksonville since 2006.
- USF's Jac'cara Walker and O'Connell were teammates and 2016 graduates of P.K. Yonge High School in Gainesville.
- McCarty is now tied with O'Connell for the team lead in double-doubles (seven).
- This is the second time this season McCarty has needed three kills or fewer to notch a triple-double.
- Griffey surpassed 200 kills Sunday. She currently sits at 204 kills and is hitting a solid .299.
- 14 different players saw action for UNF. Freshman Grace Youngblood notched her first collegiate kill, as did Peterson.

Wright's Words
"We used today to look at things in some areas and to see how players were in good competition," head coach Kristen Wright said. "There are a few people that stepped up, like Grace Youngblood and Grace Peterson on the right side. Really, against Jacksonville, both teams are in similar situations being in transition. To me it's really about pride and focus and executing a game plan and being locked in for an entire match. That's what our game plan is going to be [Tuesday]."
