Trio Named To First Team All-Conference; Murphy All-Academic

Jacksonville, Fla. – North Florida baseball had three earn ASUN All-Conference first team honors as voted on by the league coaches, the league announced on Tuesday night.Â
Junior Frank German, Outfielder Tanner Murphy and Designated Hitter Blake Voyles were named to the first team, while Murphy was also named to the all-academic team as well on Tuesday.Â
German adds to his honors after being named a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award on Monday as this is the second straight season that he has earned first team all conference honors. On the rubber, German led the ASUN with a 1.64 ERA which ranks 12th nationally while also compiling the eighth best WHIP in the nation entering tournament play on Wednesday. He notched 98 strikeouts to set a UNF single season record in the D1 era and also set the UNF career record in the D1 era with his 17 career wins.Â
Murphy, paced the Ospreys offensive attack as he led the team in batting average (.337), doubles (12), home runs (10), RBI (36), total bases (114) and stolen bases (15). He currently sits in the top ten in the Ospreys D1 single season record book in both home runs and stolen bases. Murphy is the lone Ospreys to play and start in all 51 games in the regular season. The sophomore also carries a 3.96 GPA in business management which earned him a spot on the all-academic team as well.Â
Voyles hit .329 as the Ospreys primary designated hitter during the 2018 season. He had 50 hits and 11 doubles while knocking in 31 runs during the season. He was second on the team with 16 multi-hit games and had nine multi-RBI contests during the 2018 season. Voyles enters the tournament on a 10 game reached base streak and had an 11 game streak during the season.Â
The Ospreys begin their ASUN Tournament tomorrow at 7 p.m. against No.3 Kennesaw State at Harmon Stadium.Â
