GAME 1 CAPSULE
  • Dominica Cocuzza and Navia Penrod each recorded a hit. Cocuzza owns a five-game reached base streak, while Penrod is now on a four-game hit streak.
  • Christina Biggerstaff once again held the Ospreys offense down as she surrendered just two hits, two walks, while striking out 12.
  • USC Upstate scored two runs in the sixth and it was all it needed for the win.

GAME 2 CAPSULE
  • In game two, the Spartans struck first in the second when two singles and an error allowed a run to score.
  • The Ospreys answered back with a two-run third as Cocuzza sent a deep single allow Alex Arciola and Penrod to score. Arciola reached on a single through the right side, while Penrod capitalized on a Spartan error to reach base.
  • North Florida added its much needed insurance run in the bottom of the fifth as a bunt single and a walk put two on for Kayla McGory.
  • McGory hit a single through the left side to allow Penrod to come around and score for the 3-1 advantage.
  • Upstate tried to make a comeback as Karla Beasley hit a solo homer in the sixth, but junior pitcher Sydney Matzko only allowed one more hit across the final innings.
  • Matzko finished her 20th complete game with four hits, one earned run and five strikeouts, while not walking a batter. She moves to 11-13 on the year.
