"Josh was an impactful three year starter for us," said UNF head coach Derek Marinatos. "He had a fantastic 2017 spring leading into the summer where he trained with the Armada, Orlando City B, and Sporting KC of the MLS. Josh is finishing his degree this spring and was given an opportunity with the Jacksonville Armada in preseason that has come to fruition with the signing."
A native of Jacksonville, Castellanos played at UNF from 2015-2017.  He had 12 starts his first year with three goals on 17 shots and two assists. He went on to score seven more goals and tallied two assists in 30 matches during his junior and senior year combined. His effort earned him multiple honors including being named to the ASUN First Team All-Conference in 2016.
Castellanos joins former Osprey teammates Alex Morrell, Kyle Nasta, and Jay Bolt in signing pro contracts after they graduated from UNF.
"Josh is our fourth player in the past three years to sign a professional contract," Marinatos continued. "It is a testament to the quality of student athlete that have come through our program at North Florida as well as our staff's focus on professional development. I am happy for Josh and the opportunity he has to play for our local Jacksonville professional soccer club."
