JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The North Florida baseball team remained undefeated in the Mayor's Cup as it topped Jacksonville, 12-5, on Tuesday at Harmon Stadium.
LEADING OFF
- The Ospreys are now 4-0 in the Mayor's Cup that dates back to 2015.
- Mac Wilson extended his on base streak to 12 which leads the team.
- UNF had seven of its nine batters record a hit in the game.
- Chris Berry went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored, while Alex Reynolds hit 2-for-4 with three runs and an RBI.
- The Ospreys have now won three-straight contests.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Berry started the scoring in the second inning with a home run to right field on a 1-0 count.
- In the third, UNF had back-to-back walks that produced two more runs that extended the lead.
- The Ospreys scored two more runs in the third on sacrifice fly balls from Raff Libunao and Willson that brought home Jay Prather and Tanner Murphy, respectively.
- Reynolds took the first pitch of the sixth inning over the right field fence to widen the gap for UNF.
- Murphy then singled up the middle that scored Rey Gonzalez before Alex Hendricks doubled down the left field line that brought in Jay Prather.
- Later in the sixth, Libunao scored Murphy on a groundout before Berry ended the scoring in the inning with a single to right that plated Hendricks.
- The Dolphins scored their first runs of the game when Dubrule doubled to left center that scored Reagan Wright and Zack Smith. Dubrule later scored on a wild pitch.
- In the seventh, Reynolds was able to score on a throwing error from JU.
- An inning later, Gonzalez walked that plated Libunao.
- JU produced two runs in the ninth off a single and a ground out.
