JACKSONVILLE – No. 15 Florida State got the best of North Florida softball as the Seminoles grabbed wins in both games on a breezy Saturday afternoon at the UNF Softball Complex.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Junior Dominica Cocuzza had three RBI on her three hits of the day, while also earning a walk.
- Sophomore Kayla McGory made some stellar plays in the infield, while also recording two hits, an RBI, two walks and the Ospreys lone stolen base of the day.
GAME 1 CAPSULE
- The Seminoles pitching fanned six batters and allowed just one hit as Rindy Bryant roped a double to right center in the third inning.
- Florida State got on the board in the third inning with an RBI double, before an RBI groundout by the next batter made it 2-0.
- The visitors added two more off of an Ospreys throwing error to make it 4-0.
- FSU added two in the fourth inning and a single run in the sixth before a seven run seventh gave Florida State a 13-0 victory.
GAME 2 CAPSULE
- Florida State did not waste any time as it got on the board in the first with two runs. It then scattered its other seven across the seven innings.
- The Seminoles played one run in the second, third and seventh, while adding two in the fifth and sixth.
- UNF pushed its first run across in the fourth inning when Alex Arciola laced a double to left field to bring in McGory who reached on a single.
- The Ospreys added two runs in the sixth thanks to Cocuzza's double.
- In the seventh, North Florida tried to rally with three runs, but came up short. Ashley Niesman was hit-by-pitch before Mary Rodriguez roped a double to left center to place her on third.
- Navia Penrod then loaded the bases before back-to-back ground outs plated the final runs. Cocuzza tried to extend her single to a double, but got caught at second to end the game.
IN THE BOX SCORE
- Florida State was the third ranked team UNF faced this season as the Ospreys played Louisiana and Florida in earlier meetings.
- Matzko recorded her 11 complete game in the second meeting against the Seminoles. She moves to 7-7 on the year.
