Norkus Collects First Win Over Radford

The Short Story: The North Florida baseball team pick up its first win of the 2018 season behind junior Trace Norkus' first career win as an Osprey.


LEADING OFF
- UNF's head coach, Tim Parenton, collected his first win as coach of the Ospreys.
- Norkus owned a 0-0 record with 11 appearances before his win on Sunday.
- Rey Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with three RBI's and a run scored, while Wesley Weeks hit 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Raff Libuano also had a multi-hit game going 2-for-3 with an RBI.
- Libuano, Tanner Murphy and Weeks all had a hit over the weekend, while Weeks had two hits in all three games.
- The Ospreys scored two or more runs eight out of the 10 innings scored in the series, including three of the four on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
- Gonzalez started the scoring off in the second inning with a hit to center field that brought home Weeks and Alex Reynolds.

- With runners on first and second, Libuano stretched out a single down the right side of the infield that scored Reynolds.
- Matt Roth put Radford on the scoreboard in the fifth inning with a solo home run down the left field line.
- The Highlanders pulled within one when Kyle Butler had a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Luke Wise.
- Gonzalez extended the Ospreys lead with a triple to left field that brought around Weeks from second, before scoring on a wild pitch.
- Coming in as a pinch hitter, Andrew Martinez stroked a single to the right side that brought in Jay Prather.
- Reynolds ended the scoring with a ground out that brought in Murphy.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Ospreys take to the road for the first time this season to battle South Carolina in Columbia, S.C. on Tuesday.
