JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's basketball opens its ASUN schedule for the fourth straight season against River City Rumble opponent, Jacksonville, on Saturday.

>> The Ospreys are looking to snap a nine-game skid against crosstown rival Jacksonville on Saturday.
>> UNF has not won an ASUN opener since 2013 when it had back-to-back wins against Northern Kentucky and Lipscomb.
>> The Ospreys are 7-3 against Mid-Major and lower teams, scoring 69.5 points per game.
>> North Florida is 4-1 at home and averaging 68.8 ppg. The Ospreys are 16-18 under coach Gibbs.
>> Junior Ty Purifoy stands at just 5-1 and is one of the shortest Division I players in the country. Marshall, Michigan State, Stonybrook and Seton Hall all have one player 5-1 or below.

ON THIS DAY
North Florida is 3-1 on this day in Osprey history. Its lone Division I game was in 2007 when the Ospreys lost a 39-35 decision to Gardner-Webb.

LAST TIME VS JACKSONVILLE
  • In the second meeting between the two teams, UNF lost 69-59 on its home court.
  • Tesh Hanson scored a team-best 12 points.
  • UNF shot 48 percent from the field, but sent JU to the line 25 times where it sank 16. The Ospreys hit just eight free throws.
  • The Dolphins also capitalized from long range with seven triples to the Ospreys' three.
  • UNF outscored JU 21-16 in the third quarter.

OPEN UP
The River City Rumble has been the opener of ASUN play four times in Division I history and it is the third straight year in a row that the two teams met to open conference play.

SAME RECORD DIFFERENT YEAR
North Florida has recorded seven non-conference wins in three of the last four years.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Ospreys continue their three-game home stretch with Kennesaw State on Saturday, Jan. 13 and host Lipscomb on January 15.
