NEW ORLEANS, LA. - North Florida volleyball dropped a four-set decision on Friday night to Alabama State to open the weekend at the Tulane Invitational.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hornets took command of the match early in set one as they jumped out to a 9-6 lead however that's the closest the set got as Alabama State went on a 7-0 run to put the set out of reach for the Ospreys.
- UNF did attempt to climb back, but Alabama State responded and took a dominant 25-13 set one win. In the frame, Alabama State dominated with a .462 hitting percentage while forcing UNF into eight errors.
- In the second set the Ospreys battled back after falling down early 6-4. They put together a run of eight of the next 11 points to take a 12-9 lead.
- The Ospreys got it out to a 15-10 lead before Alabama State made a run as it scored four of their next six points before UNF responded with a quick run to make it 21-18.
- The Hornets had the last word in set two scoring seven of the final eight points en route to a 25-22 set win.
- North Florida opened the third frame with a 7-2 run. The Hornets continued to chip away and attempt to sweep the match in three, but every time they made a run UNF had an answer.
- The Ospreys closed the set scoring seven of the final nine points to win 25-16. In the set the Ospreys hit a match-best .273.
- The two teams continued to go back-and-forth in the fourth set with neither team getting much separation from each other until the end as Alabama State closed the match on an 8-0 run to win 25-17 and take the match from UNF.

- Sophomore Taryn Griffey tied her season best with 12 kills in the match, previously hitting that mark against Xavier.
- Junior Madilyn McCarty recorded her team-leading fourth double-double with 33 assists and 10 digs. McCarty now owns nine matches with 20 or more assists.
