QUICK HITS
  • Sophomore Navia Penrod led the team with a 4-for-5 outing with two runs scored and three stolen bases on the day.
  • Freshman Kayla McGory brought in a team-high three RBI on her three hits with all RBIs coming in the second game. The shortstop also had a run scored and a stolen base.
  • Senior Logan Green tossed a complete game in the opening match up with just four hits and no walks while fanning two batters. It was her third complete-game shutout and the 12th time with four or less hits. She then came in for the final out against FGCU with a looking strikeout to secure the win.

GAME CAPSULE
Game 1
  • The Ospreys did not waste time and capitalized on an overthrow to first to bring in Taylor Aguayo from third base in the first to make it a 1-0 game.
  • UNF extended its lead in the fifth inning thanks to a missed tag on a bunt-single from Macayla Kelley. The first baseman missed the tag on the first base line and threw the ball to third allowing Alex Arciola to score.
  • Arciola reached after a dropped foul ball extended her at bat and then she earned a walk.
  • The two runs was all North Florida needed as Green allowed just two batters to reach past first base in her ninth win of the season.

Game 2
  • It was a tie ball-game through the middle of the third inning until the Ospreys got the bats going.
  • Penrod sent a single up the middle and moved to second when the throw was sent into the visitor dugout.
  • Kelley then sent a short hit to pitcher who turned around to get Penrod to stay at second, but got in a throw down allowed Penrod to break for third where she made it. Kelley advanced to second on the throw.
  • With runners on second and third, McGory sent a single through the right side to move the runners and score the first run.
  • Dominica Cocuzza was drilled by a pitch in her wrist and loaded the bases.
  • A passed ball allowed Kelley to score before Ashley Niesman stepped to the plate to rope an RBI single to left field for a 3-0 game.
  • Sophomore Jenna Brownell sent a ball to deep second base to allow another runner to come home for a 4-0 lead.
  • UNF added to its lead, which it ended up being the game-winning run when McGory hit a sacrifice fly to right field to bring in Aguayo from third.
  • The Ospreys added an insurance run in the sixth on another RBI from McGory.
  • FGCU certainly made things interesting in the final frame as the Eagles recorded five hits in the frame with four runs scored.
  • With just one out and bases loaded, the Ospreys were able to get an out at home, but Kelsey Huff sent a three-RBI double to right field, cutting the Ospreys' lead in half.
  • A wild pitch allowed Huff to move to third when Green was brought in relief. The senior came in and had no trouble with Morgan Sutherland and sat her down in four pitches to save the win for UNF.

OUTSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Dominica Cocuzza has now reached base in 19 straight games, while McGory has reached safely in 12 consecutive contests. Brownell is just behind at 10.
- McGory has a team-best six-game hit streak as well.
- The back-to-back victories against the Eagles are the first since 2010 when UNF took two in Fort Myers. Those wins were also the last time the Ospreys won two straight to open ASUN play.
- North Florida is 11-1 when Penrod is in the second spot in the lineup.
