UCF Snaps Ospreys Win Streak with 2-1 Victory

ORLANDO, Fla. - North Florida softball had its nine-game win streak snapped by UCF in a non-conference midweek match up where the Knights won, 2-1.

  • Junior Ashley Niesman was 2-for-2 and recording the lone RBI of the day.
  • Sophomore Jenna Brownell also record two hits on the day.
  • Senior Logan Green tossed a complete game with seven hits, one walk and two strikeouts.

GAME CAPSULE
  • UCF got on the board in the first inning with a successful double steal. The lead runner reached on a double to open the game and moved over on a fielding error for runners on first and third.
  • The Ospreys evened the score in the sixth when Niesman popped a sac fly in the right spot so that Macayla Kelley, who reached on a single, could come home and score.
  • It was all the visitors mustered as UCF shut them down in the top of the seventh.
  • The Knights hit back-to-back singles and allowed Aubrey Johnson, who reached on a fielder's choice, to come around and score for the win.

OUTSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Knights snapped Dominica Cocuzza's team-best 13-game hit streak, but she was able to reach base now in 17 games as UCF tossed her a walk.
- This is the eighth time the Ospreys have had a game won or lost by just one run and UNF is 3-5 in those contests.
