Men’s Soccer Ends Season in ASUN Quarterfinals

DELAND, Fla.  – Fifth seed Jacksonville topped the fourth seed North Florida men's soccer team, 2-1, on Friday in the quarterfinals of the ASUN Championships at the Athletic Training Center.

The Ospreys ended their season with a 3-10-2 record, while the Dolphins (5-9-1) advance to face Stetson on Sunday.
GOALS
UNF, 11' – Micah Smoak (Assist: Mikey Connell)
JU, 13' – Igor Ferreira (Assist: Kai Bennett, Sam Gardner)
JU, 78' – Selemani Baruani (Unassisted)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Early in the game, the Ospreys took their second corner of the game. The cross came in and was temporally cleared before Connell headed the ball back into the box. Smoak headed the ball with his back to the goal that floated over the goalie for the first goal of the game.
- Two minutes later, Gardner played the ball to the left side of the field behind the UNF defense. Bennett played the first touch pass inside the middle of the 18-yard box to Ferreira who tied the game.
- Baruani collected the ball at midfield and was one-on-one with a UNF defender. He took the shot that beat the Ospreys goalie on the near post.
