JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Two unbeaten conference teams meet on Thursday as North Florida women's tennis hosts FGCU in an Atlantic Sun match up on Thursday at 3 p.m. at the UNF Tennis Courts.
UNF is currently on a five-match win streak including four conference matches. The Ospreys own a 9-5 mark and 4-0 in Atlantic Sun. FGCU is 10-7 overall and also stand at 4-0 in league play which includes three shut out victories.
Currently a trio of Ospreys have nine total dual match victories and five are undefeated in A-Sun play.
Luise Intert is undefeated overall with an 8-0 record in the No. 4 spot.
Noemi Hemmerich is 9-5 in the No. 1 position, while her doubles partner
Quetzali Vazquez is also 9-5. Vazquez has transitioned into the No. 5 spot and is riding a team-best six match winning streak. In doubles play, Intert and partner
Rafaela Gomez are 8-4 in the No. 2 position, while Hemmerich and Vazquez have a 6-2 mark in the No. 1 spot.
Michelle Valdez and
Mariella Calderon have paired up at the No. 3 spot for the last six matches and are 5-1 in that time.
Breana Stampfli is the Eagles' top player with a 9-7 record in the No. 1 position, while Julia Ascua owns an 8-2 mark in the No. 3 position and is 19-14 overall. Ascua along with Julianna Curtis post a 10-1 record in No. 2 doubles. Laura Falceto Font is making waves in the lower courts with a 9-1 mark including an eight-match win streak at the No. 6 spot.
The Ospreys own an 8-0 series edge against the Eagles and are 3-0 in Jacksonville. Last time the teams met, UNF walked away with a tightly-contested 4-3 win.
North Florida takes a short break from conference play to host USF on Saturday at noon before UCF comes to town on Friday, April 15 at 2 p.m. The Ospreys close out the regular season with a match at Stetson on April 16.
