KENNESAW, Ga. The North Florida Softball team defeated Kennesaw State 3-2 to take the series Sunday at Bailey Park in Kennesaw, Ga.

The Ospreys (14-19, 3-3 A-Sun) now sit in a tie for fourth in the conference standings, while the Owls (21-15, 5-4 A-Sun) move to second place in the conference.

The Ospreys jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when senior Katie Mandigo belted a solo home run to left field, her second of the season.

North Florida doubled their lead to 2-0, when junior Ashia Kerr singled home sophomore Ashley Niesman.

Kennesaw State cut the lead to 2-1 on a RBI single in the bottom of the third.

The Ospreys pushed the lead to 3-1 in the top of the seventh, when freshman Navia Penrod scored on a Kennesaw throwing error.

The Owls were able to cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh with a RBI groundout, but the Ospreys' defense was able to hold on for the win and take the rubber match of the series.
