CLEARWATER, Fla. – The North Florida Softball team fell 3-2 to Penn in a neutral-site contest Thursday at the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex in Clearwater, Fla.
The Ospreys ended their four game winning streak and look to rebound this weekend in tournament play at the USF Under Armour Showcase.
Penn took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second with a RBI triple, followed by a RBI single.
The Ospreys responded with a RBI single in the top of the fourth by sophomore
Ashley Niesman. North Florida tied the game the next inning at 2-2 with a RBI double by senior
Shelby Duncan.
Penn scored in the bottom half of the fifth on an illegal pitch and managed to hold the Ospreys at bay for the final two innings for the 3-2 win.
North Florida starts tournament action tomorrow against Fairfield at 11:45 a.m., followed by an afternoon matchup with Southern Illinois at 4:30 p.m.
