LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – The North Florida Softball team fell to East Carolina 8-4 and 23
rd-ranked Notre Dame 7-3 in their second day of action at the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
In the first game of the day, The Ospreys rallied to put up four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning after trailing 5-0 to cut the lead to 5-4, in part to a two-RBI double by freshman
Jenna Brownell. The Pirates were able to push the lead in the top of the seventh to 8-4 with a 3-Run home run.
In the second game of the day, the Fighting Irish took a 2-0 lead early in the bottom of the first with two RBI doubles. The Ospreys trailed 6-0 through three innings when Brownell scored their first run on a RBI single.
Senior
Shelby Duncan cut the lead to 6-2 with a deep fielder's choice to left field, scoring sophomore
Alex Arciola. Notre Dame pushed the lead to 7-2 before senior
Lexi Taylor was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, bringing the score to the eventual final of 7-3.
Brownell finished 2-for-3 to lead the Ospreys' offense in the second game.
North Florida closes play at the Citrus Classic tomorrow at 12:15 against Penn State.
