O'Connell's Double-Double Not Enough against Owls

KENNESAW, Ga. - North Florida volleyball freshman Gabby O'Connell recorded her 12th double-double of the season at Kennesaw State, but it was not enough as the Owls took the match in straight sets on Friday evening at the KSU Convocation Center.

QUICK HITS

- Kennesaw State hit .350 for the night which was a season-high for opponents against UNF.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Ospreys stayed tight with the hosts in the opening frame through the first 10 points, but Kennesaw went on an 11-4 stretch to take a lead it would not relinquish. North Florida struggled in the opening set recording just seven kills on 30 attempts with nine errors, while the Owls hit .320 for the set.

In the second frame, the teams knotted the score 10 times and had four lead changes with the last lead change coming at 18-17 in favor of the Owls. A quick 4-1 run stretch for the home team gave them the lead they needed to close out the set.

Kennesaw State owned an 8-4 lead early in the set before the Ospreys went on a 10-6 run to tie the score at 14-all. O'Connell recorded five kills during the stretch, while Morgan Van Alstine had two block assists and a kill. The Owls then rattled off four straight points to take back the lead, 18-14. Late in the set, O'Connell had back-to-back points to bring North Florida back to within two, 18-16, but it was to late as a 5-1 run gave KSU all the momentum they needed to take the sweep.
