Volleyball Outhits Spartans in Sweep

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Behind a season-best attack percentage, the North Florida volleyball team swept USC Upstate, 3-0 (-11, -16, -22), on Friday evening at the Hodge Center.

CAN YOU DIG IT?
Junior Katarina Raicevic bested her career-high in digs (11) set against Bethune Cookman on Tuesday as she totaled the match's second-best total, 13, in the win. Ashley LaBorde led the match with 17 total digs. 

HIT THE BEST
The Ospreys hit .345, a season-best, to the Spartans' .077. UNF had 46 kills to the home team's 28.

LIMIT YOUR ERRORS
North Florida recorded just seven errors against the Spartans and it is the first time this season that the team had single-digit errors.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first set was in the Ospreys favor from the first serve as the visitors races out to a 17-6 lead. UNF scored seven points on Madilyn McCarty's serves during the streak. USC Upstate did not get anything going as UNF won, 25-11.

The teams traded points through the first 16, until North Florida went on a 7-3 run, helped by four kills from O'Connell to lead, 15-11. Upstate was able to get within four, two other times later in the match, but it was not enough as the Ospreys took the second set to lead 2-0.

In the final frame, the hosts did not want to go down without a fight with the set seeing nine tie scores and four lead changes. With North Florida trailing at 22-21, the Ospreys recorded four straight kills to close up the match and win 25-22 to take the sweep.
