ASUN Play Continues on the Road for Volleyball

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida volleyball continues its trek through the ASUN schedule with a trip to USC Upstate and NJIT on Friday and Sunday, respectively.

QUICK HITS 
- North Florida is 10-5 in Spartanburg, S.C., while holding a 27-6 record all-time against the Spartans. Coach Steve Loeswick is 6-2 against Upstate.

- The Ospreys and Highlanders faced off for the first time in 2015 with NJIT joining the ASUN. UNF grabbed both wins last season in straight sets.

ON THIS DAY
OCTOBER 7

North Florida and USC Upstate met on this date back in 2011 with the Spartans taking the 3-0 win.  However, the Ospreys are 5-4 on this day overall with most play coming in the Division II era.

OCTOBER 9
UNF owns a 5-3 mark on 10/9. It fell to Lipscomb in straight sets last season on this date.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
- Currently 2-1 in the ASUN after beating NJIT & Stetson in five.
- Madison Haake was named ASUN Defensive Player of the Week with 31 digs and 11 blocks. She had double-doubles against Presbyterian and Stetson. She also had six kills and dished 118 assists in three matches.
- Emily Koelling leads the team with 1983 kills and is hitting a team-best .278, while Callie Yeargin is another threat on the attack with 185.
- Yeargin also helps on the defensive end with 215 digs, while she is actually fourth on the team. Kaleigh Kelley leads with 353 digs, while Haake is second with 258.
- Upstate has played 10 five-set matches with a 6-4 record in those.

SCOUTING NJIT
- Katarzyna Klocek  leads the Highlanders with 189 kills, while Weronika Wiezik is close behind with 181.
- Anna Rodrigues runs the offense with 319 assists, while Liz Benson has also ran the lfoor with 195 helpers.
- The defensive end is up for grabbs with five players in triple figures led by Adriana Nieto with 293. She is also a threat from the service line with a team-best 31 aces.

ROOKIE OF THE MATCH
Freshman Gabby O'Connell had a stand-out match against Bethune Cookman with 23 kills, a team-high this season and hit .396 for the match. She also recorded her ninth double-double of the season with a season-best 17 digs.

SINGLE SEASON STOPS
Senior Morgan Van Alstine is just 16 blocks away from breaking into the top 10 in single-season block records. The 10th spot is currently at 118 in 88 sets.

KILLIN' IT
Thanks to every player that saw the floor recording a kill, the 61 kills against Bethune Cookman is second highest for the team and the most in a four-set match this season.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Ospreys continue their conference play on the road as it travels to Stetson and FGCU next. The Hatters host UNF on Friday, Oct. 14 before the battle of the birds on Saturday in Fort Myers, Fla.
