HELPING OUT
Sophomore
Madilyn McCarty's 50 assists are the most helpers since Britt Claessens had 50 against Stetson in 2013.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The match was close through the opening 15 points before Bethune-Cookman recorded five straight points to lead 14-8 and force a North Florida timeout. UNF then jumped back in the match and tied it at 22-all on a kill from Turner and eventually led with a kill from O'Connell, her seventh of the frame. A Wildcat kill tied the game back up but back-to-back kills secured the first-set win, 25-23.
In the second frame, the hosts raced out to an 11-5 lead and never looked back, eventually winning, 25-15. The third set featured nine tie scores and three lead changes with Bethune-Cookman holding the final one to take the set. UNF led for most of the match and took its biggest lead, 15-10 on the kill from Ferguson. BCU then jumped on a 9-3 run to take a 19-18 lead to make UNF call a timeout. The teams traded points and a block from
Erin Edwards and
Katarina Raicevic tied it at 24, but it was not enough as the Wildcats grabbed the final two points.
The final set was a quick one with the seven tie scores coming in the first 14 points of hthe match. A kill from freshman
Taryn Griffey started a 10-3 run to give the Ospreys all the momentum they needed to finish off the match. Turner recorded two of her three aces in the final three points of the match.
