JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The North Florida women's soccer team hosts Furman on Friday at 7 p.m. and Georgia Southern on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Hodges Stadium to close their non-conference slate.
The Ospreys (1-6-0) are coming off of a tough four-match road trip and look to get back into the win column before conference play begins next week.
"We know we have to play better than last weekend, and the team got after it in training this week," said head coach
Robin Confer. "I think everyone is excited to be back at home after four games on the road."
Furman (6-2-0) is coming off of weekend wins over Kennesaw State and Presbyterian, while Georgia Southern (3-3-1) is coming off of wins over Winthrop and Alabama State. Georgia Southern plays USF in Tampa on Friday before heading over to Jacksonville on Sunday to face the Ospreys.
For the Ospreys, the offensive front is led by junior
Alexis Bredeau, who leads all forwards in minutes played and has found the net once this season while starting all of the matches so far.
In the midfield, senior
Ashley Carmean has been a consistent presence for the Ospreys, ranking third on the team in minutes played.
For the defense, the trio of juniors
Jenna Steininger,
Kendall Pollock and Gabrielle Ligouri have started every match for the Ospreys and all rank in the top five on the team in minutes played.
"Furman and Georgia Southern are two good opponents and as long as we play like we are capable of, we give ourselves a chance to get a result," added Confer. "We just need to put together two consistent halves of soccer and find the back of the net"
Both matches this weekend will feature live stats and a full recap will be available following each match on UNFOspreys.com.
