@OspreyWSOC Drops Non-Conference contest with Presbyterian

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. The North Florida Women's Soccer team fell to Presbyterian 1-0 in the first overtime period in a rain-soaked match at Hodges Stadium Friday night.

In a match that saw a 50-minute lightning delay at halftime, both teams battled into overtime, where Presbyterian won the match on a golden goal in the 94th minute.

"Obviously we are very disappointed in the result tonight. Playing in wet conditions certainly changes the game but credit Presbyterian, they fought hard and a miscue on our part was the difference in the game," said coach Robin Confer. "We have to do a better job from the start and have to finish out chances."

The Ospreys had their chances at the goal but couldn't find the net. In the 40th minute, freshman Mackenzie Meisler fired a shot from just inside the box but it ricocheted off of the crossbar, sophomore Mikki Olson fielded the ball after the rebound, but her shot went wide right.

After the half and the delay, the Ospreys knocked on the door for most of the second half. In the 62nd minute, junior Sonia O'Neill ran the ball into the box and ripped a shot that was blocked by the Presbyterian defense.

In the 80th minute, sophomore Kayla Gray made a run that left her with a one-on-one opportunity at the goal, but her shot was saved by the Presbyterian keeper.

After the end of regulation, Presbyterian earned the win in the 94th minute, a cross went over goalkeeper's Susie Ford's head, landing at the feet of Stephanie Lee, who put the game-winner in from two-yards out.

The Ospreys are back in action again this Sunday at 2 p.m. at Hodges Stadium when they face Georgia State.
