JACKSONVILLE -- The North Florida track and field program concluded its hosting duties for another successful and exciting NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Preliminary on Saturday highlighted by 18 new Hodges Stadium facility records and featuring a school record four Osprey qualifiers.
The quartet of UNF athletes qualified for this year's East Prelim included a trio of freshmen -- Nick Morken (800m), Bobby Harris (High Jump) and Eden Meyer (10,000m) -- along with senior standout Elle Baker (3,000m Steeplechase). The group of four Osprey participants equalled the program benchmark established in 2011.
The 2015 event marked the second consecutive season that Hodges Stadium has served as the host site for the opening round of the NCAA Championships. North Florida will host the prelim again next season (2016) and also hosted the event in 2012.
"Having the opportunity to host an NCAA event on your home track is a tremendous honor," said head coach Jeff Pigg. "The UNF Athletics staff always does a great job of hosting events and this year was no different. We also appreciate the support from the University administration, our sponsors and supporters around the city and the Jacksonville community. I really feel like having four of our athletes participating in the event this year created a new level of excitement for our program and we are already looking forward to next year's prelim."
